A puffy, distended shape that suggests immediate comfort, together with spiked edges to further emphasize the inner plumpness. Buffa, even the name sounds pliable and absorbent, like a silencer. Its connection to Italian comic opera comes only secondary -through a certain playfulness and flippancy of form. Formally, this was about abandoning a classic sleek and angular style, and making a distinct shift towards the soft, rounded line to create a sofa that does not need to be tamed or appeased with cushions.
