uno modular seating system

UNO Modular Seating System turns simplicity into flexibility. Built around a lightweight structure made from recycled polypropylene rather than a traditional wood frame, UNO combines soft architectural forms with an unusually straightforward construction. Removable zippered upholstery and a simple, discreet ganging system make it easy to maintain, reconfigure, and adapt—creating everything from individual lounge seats to expansive modular landscapes.

Uno Modular Seating Units

UNO Modular Seating System is a refreshingly simple approach to modern modular furniture, designed to adapt as easily as the spaces around it.

At the heart of UNO is an innovative structural concept. Instead of the conventional wood framing found in most upholstered seating, its internal structure is made from recycled polypropylene, creating a lightweight and highly versatile foundation. The structure is covered with molded foam and finished with a removable fabric slipcover, secured with a zipper for easy installation and replacement. The designer describes the system as being based on two fundamental components—an open module and a backrest module—which can be combined and expanded in multiple directions.

UNO’s equally thoughtful ganging system keeps adjoining modules securely connected without adding unnecessary visual or mechanical complexity. Modules can be joined, separated, and rearranged quickly, allowing the seating to evolve from a compact lounge arrangement into larger sofas, open-ended compositions, ottoman configurations, or free-form seating landscapes.

Its generous proportions, softly rounded geometry, and low architectural profile give UNO a relaxed visual character while maintaining the clarity expected of contemporary contract furniture. The modular format makes it particularly well suited to workplace lounges, hospitality interiors, hotel lobbies, collaborative spaces, waiting areas, and modern residential environments.

Designed by Simone Viola, UNO reduces modular seating to a small number of intelligent components—making the system easier to specify, reconfigure, maintain, and refresh over time.

Uno Connector

Less structure. More possibilities.
UNO does away with a few things modular sofas have traditionally relied on—starting with the wood frame. In its place: a recycled polypropylene structure, molded comfort, a zip-on removable cover, and perhaps one of the simplest ganging systems we’ve seen.
Connect it. Separate it. Turn an ottoman into an extension. Add another seat. Change the layout next year.
UNO is modular seating without the drama. 🙂
